Amethyst

Amethyst (from the Greek améthystos – not inebriated) was the name of the mythical wood nymph that Diana turned into pure crystal and then took away to the court of Bacchus. The god, angry and drunk, spilled wine on the crystal and so created the unique purple colour.

The best varieties come from Brazil, Uruguay, the United States, Russia, Madagascar, India, Australia and South Africa. It is rich in calming and soothing properties, fights headaches and, among other things, strengthens the endocrine and immune systems.
