Black Mother of Pearl
Mother of Pearl is an organic gem formed from protective layers of calcium carbonate which line the inside of the pearl oyester shell. This is the same natural process and material as the pearl, and takes up to seven years to form. This particular specimen has a black and silver colour combination that makes it very eye-catching. The beautiful iridescent colours you see in mother-of-pearl are caused by reflective light bouncing of the various layers of growth of the shell. These large scale panels of specimen pieces of mother of pearl have been closely laid out to take full advantage of the natural beauty of the shell stone. Suitable for indoor use
