Carnelian Brown
Carnelian (or cornelian) – from the Latin cornĕus) – is a precious variety of chalcedony. Its colour is strikingly similar to that of the fruits of the cornel tree, from which it gets its name. This particular quality, with brown shades, stimulates blood flow and the assimilation of nutrients present in food.
The best-known deposits are in Brazil, India, Uruguay and Madagascar. All slabs and cut-to-size pieces are carefully assembled by hand and can be used to decorate interiors with their striking contrasting colours. When backlit, this gem creates multicolor tricks of the light.
